Tysoe tournament is a smash hit with village youngsters

Tysoe Tennis Club held a junior tournament and family BBQ on Sunday 13 June in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.   Funds raised on the day will go to the charity, which is best known for its network of nurses who work in the community to provide free end-of-life care for patients in their own homes.

Ten local youngsters between the ages of five and sixteen took part in the tournament which saw members of the same family pitted against each other.  They all received Marie Curie Cancer Care sweatbands and prizes were awarded to players in two age groups.

The winners were Edward Hill (8) in the Under-9s group and Harry Camp (13) in the Under-16s.

‘It was great to see how much the children enjoyed taking part and at the same time know we were raising funds for a good cause’, said Club Captain, Julie Smart. ‘Some of the young ones showed great promise, given that they were up against much older players.’
